Administrative Division

The Administrative Division supports the Sheriff’s Department and provides services for the public. These include providing accident and incident reports. Typically your insurance company will request and pay for these reports but should you want to do this yourself, the information below will be helpful.

How to request an accident report:

By mail:

1.     Mail a request with the name of the person involved, the date, and location of the accident. Please include the address you would like the report mailed to.

2.     Mail your request to:

Sagadahoc County Sheriff’s Office

   752 High Street

Bath ME 04530

3.     If you are requesting an accident report because your property was damaged by an accident (i.e....landscaping or mailbox damaged) please include as much identifying information as possible (names, dates, times and location).

4.     Enclose a check for $10.00 made payable to the Sagadahoc County Treasurer. The report will be mailed as soon as it has been approved and signed by a supervisor.

In Person:

You may come into the Sheriff’s Office any time between 8:30 am and 3:30 pm, Monday through Friday, to pick up a copy of an accident report. We are closed all federal and state holidays.

Accident reports must be approved by a supervisor before they can be released; it is advisable to call the office to check on the status of a report before coming in to the office. Our number is 207.443.8529 or 8530.

There is a $10.00 charge for these reports, payable by check or cash.

When a serious accident happens, a reconstruction report is usually requested. As these reports are often very extensive, a fee of $25.00 is charged for the report; $50.00 if photos are included with the report.
