Criminal Investigation Division
Welcome to our Web Site, I would like to take a moment and tell you about your Criminal Investigation Division (CID). CID investigates crimes separated into three categories: Crimes Against Persons, Property Crimes and Drug Investigations. Crimes against persons are given top priority and are typically sexual assaults, child abuse, aggravated assaults, stalking complaints, internet predators, and suspicious deaths. Property crimes are often burglaries, thefts, frauds, and criminal mischief cases. CID registers and randomly checks area sex offenders and investigates Concealed Weapons Permit applications initiated through the state. As Sergeant of CID, my duties include scheduling detectives, assigning cases, supervising investigations, and coordinating with the Patrol Division. I also serve as Court Officer and partner with the Elder Abuse Task Force, Sexual Assault Support Services of Midcoast Maine (SASSMM), Working Group Against Family Violence, Midcoast Drug Task Force, and Volunteers Of America. Along with the above duties our detectives have developed additional areas of expertise. In addition to investigations, Detective Reed is this agency’s Crime Scene Investigator and serves as our Evidence Technician. Detective Reed also instructs the AARP Driver Safety Program for Seniors. Detective Carleton is primarily focused on drug investigations and has taken the department lead on underage drinking and its related program, Operation Shoulder Tap. I encourage you to e-mail Detective Carleton with any related information or concerns. Drug Investigator Damren and the entire investigative division are extremely aware of the serious threat posed by illegal drugs and prescription drug abuse. We welcome any and all drug information, you can contact us by telephone (443-8530), e-mail, letter, or in person.Your information will be kept confidential or you can remain anonymous. We need your information to serve at our best. Thank you,
